All alumni, parents, friends, and supporters of PLU Lacrosse are invited to participate in this year's auction to be held on Saturday, April 19th. The auction will begin at 7:00pm in Thompson Hall at Trinity Lutheran Church (across from the PLU Library on the corner of 121st and Park). Cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple, with dinner being provided. This is a great opportunity to meet the players and support the program by donating and bidding on items. PLU traveled to Salem, Oregon this past weekend for a neutral site game against the Southern Oregon University Raiders. In a game that had playoff implications, the Lutes fell to SOU 15-3. According to Coach Bubba, the Lutes "just lacked execution" and were unable to get things rolling on offense. With SOU Defenseman Dan Snell covering him most of the day Attackman Nic Tkachuk was limited to only 1 goal, his lowest point total on the season. Other scores came from Midfielders David Stark (1g), James Tupper (1g), and Attackman Andrew Ratzke (1a). PLU is now 2-4 in their division and 3-5 overall, and now must prepare for a couple Out of Conference games in California.

PLU endured a rough two days as they fell to Western Washington University (16-9) and Central Washington University (16-13) this weekend. The Lutes played well, but the Vikings and Wildcats proved to be too much for PLU's youthful roster. James Tupper (3g, 2a), Luke Hansen (3g, 1a), Andrew Ratzke (1g, 3a), Kevin Rose(2g), and David Stark (1g,1a) all contributed to the scoring this weekend, but it was Nicolas Tkachuk who led PLU's offense with 12 goals and 4 assists. Goalie Greg Fredlund also did a great job in cage, recording 34 saves in two games. With these two losses, the Lutes are 2-3 (3-4 overall) in the PNCLL-2 and need a win in Saturday's game with Southern Oregon University in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. This game will be played on the campus of Willamette University with a start time of 12 p.m.

PLU opened a three game homestand this weekend with a contest against the Lewis & Clark Pioneers on Saturday. After starting out slow, the Lutes settled into their offense and came out with a 16-8 win. Nicholas Tkachuck (5g, 2a) and Kevin Rose (4g,2a) lead the Lutes offense with Luke Hansen adding 4 goals and an assist. PLU takes on the Western Washington Vikings (4-1; 4-2) and the Central Washington Wildcats (2-1; 2-1) on Saturday and Sunday in two important PNCLL Division 2 Conference games. Both games start at 1 p.m. on Gonyea Field.

The Lutes began their 2008 campaign Saturday in Ashland, Oregon, against the University of Nevada-Reno. With a limited number of players and a large number of new recruits, the Lutes fought hard but ultimately lost 14-8. Attackman Andrew Ratzke led the Lutes with three goals and attackman Nicolas Tkachuk added two goals and one assist. PLU then traveled north to Portland to take on an upstart Portland State program on Sunday. In what turned out to be a very physical contest, the Lutes prevailed 12-7. The two games provided PLU with valuable game experience as it begins its trek through the PNCLL Division 2. Up next for the Lutes are the Whitman Missionaries on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008. The game starts at 1 p.m. at Whitman College in Walla Walla.

With the lacrosse season only a month away, the Lutes announce their 2008 season schedule. The Lutes begin their campaign with an away game against the University of Nevada-Reno on February 16th, 2008 in Ashland, Oregon. Check out the rest of season schedule and also note that it is subject to change.
